Denton, TX Facility Gets a Facelift
- Annual Energy Reduction 194,499 kWh
- Annual Energy Savings $24,902
- CO2 Reduction 160 tons
Thermadyne Holdings Corporation, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a multi-national manufacturer of welding and cutting products. With a long standing tradition of operational excellence, it was only logical that they would embark upon an energy efficiency strategy to reduce facility operating costs.
CHALLENGE
Thermadyne’s Denton, TX facility was not unlike many industrial sites that were originally built with one design and modified over time to accommodate new production lines and other uses of space. As such, their lighting was a hodgepodge of T12 strips, Power Groove lamps, and random metal halide fixtures added whenever additional light was required. Their office lighting was a bit more uniform, but terribly inefficient.
SOLUTION
With an eye for not only energy savings but also aesthetic improvements, Aelux’s photometric analysts designed a layout that allowed for the reuse of a majority the industrial lighting strip bodies by retrofitting with low cost but high impact retrofit kits. We were able to eliminate all metal halide fixtures and redesign sub area lighting configurations to address areas of high foot candle requirements without altering the aesthetic of linear T8 fluorescents. The result was a dramatic improvement in light levels, tremendous energy savings, and a facelift that made the facility look brand new!
