Solo Cup wanted an eco friendly lighting system, and looked to Aelux to design a sustainable lighting solution for their Hempstead, MD Distribution Center to reduce their six figure lighting costs. Aelux’s reputation for executing minimally invasive large scale energy efficient lighting retrofit projects was very important to Solo Cup who runs a 24 hour operation.

SOLUTION

Aelux engineered an energy efficient commercial lighting system that nearly halved wattage consumption while reducing lighting costs by 69%. The significant savings produced by the sustainable lighting design, gave Solo Cup full return of the invested capital into green commercial lighting in less than five months. Aelux had the ability to scale up the qualified labor to meet the operational demand, and managed the million plus square foot installation of T5 energy efficient fluorescent lighting fixtures in record time with little to no disruption to operations.

Solo’s decision to reduce lighting costs by installing an energy efficient lighting system in their Hempstead Distribution Center also resulted in a massive reduction to their Carbon Footprint. This eco friendly lighting project will reduce Solo Cups carbon emissions by 2,500 tons; the equivalent to the annual removal of 430 cars from the roads or the annual planting of more than 60,000 trees!
