Bright Lights, Big Savings for Motorola
- Annual Energy Reduction 618,258 kWh
- Annual Energy Savings $70,954
- CO2 Reduction 508 tons
Motorola is a global communications leader with a long history of corporate responsibility. When their Symbol mobile enterprise division was approached about opportunities to dramatically reduce energy costs at their McAllen, TX manufacturing facility, their immediate response was to ask whether a lighting retrofit could help reduce their carbon footprint. When they discovered that their green initiatives could help reduce costs by more than 60%, they were on their way to a brighter and greener future!
CHALLENGE
Facility management was intent on completing the retrofit project in conjunction with the installation of a conveyor upgrade in order to minimize disruptions at the facility. This required exacting logistics and a high level of flexibility on Aelux’s part, so that the lighting retrofit crews could complete the project not only on time, but in a fashion that did not disrupt the installation of the conveyor system.
SOLUTION
Aelux’s logistics and project management teams collaborated to ensure that the system installation went off without a hitch. Fixtures arrived ahead of schedule, materials were staged with precision, and the project was planned with such a level of perfection that that Motorola was able to convert their inefficient metal halides to high intensity T5HO fluorescents without missing a beat.
