ConAgra Foods is a leading branded foods company and is the trusted name behind many leading brands, including: Healthy Choice, Chef Boyardee, Egg Beaters, Hebrew National, Hunt’s, Orville Redenbacher’s, PAM, and Banquet, among others. With a strong commitment to the environment (their corporate Code of Conduct includes specific language committing facilities to minimize the impact of operations on the environment), it is no wonder that their J.M. Swank subsidiary embarked upon a multi-site warehouse lighting retrofit project with Aelux.
CHALLENGE
Most warehouse (high bay) retrofit projects begin with a decision to either pursue T5HO or T8 technology. Both can provide exceptional value and optimum light levels, but the particular facility application will dictate which technology best meets a customer’s needs. In the case of J.M. Swank, there were pros and cons of each technology, and only through a thorough analysis of both were we able to definitively provide the optimal solution.
SOLUTION
Taking first costs, facility conditions, FDA requirements for food grade warehousing and replacement costs into account, Aelux was able to provide J.M. Swank with a comparative analysis of both a T5HO solution and a T8 solution. While both technologies provided excellent investments returns and comparable light levels, it was the replacement cost of FDA compliant lamps that ultimately tipped the scale in favor of a 6-lamp T8 high bay solution.
